The kick drum is snatchy and sits tight in the mix. The low end doesn’t sprawl, but hits in a collected way. Hats bounce in the background, creating a swing. Swing is subtle but palpable – the groove is not static, but alive.
Synths are distorted and nervous. They slip and press in several layers at once. There are acid echoes, but without the obvious 303, it’s more of a hybrid sound with granulation and distortion. The vocal inserts are ghostly and blurry. They add to the haze, but don’t lurch forward.
“Welcome To Miami” is a track without too much melodrama, but with the right balance of aggression and groove. Thomas Klipps and Anina Owly rely on energy and texture rather than clever moves. The track doesn’t open new horizons, but it perfectly fulfills its function – to push, rock and keep the tension on the dance floor.
