From the first seconds of the composition it becomes clear that the producer relies on atmosphere. The initial intro section uses soft pads and echo-delay on high frequencies. This creates a feeling of spaciousness and light. The rhythm section, which connects after a few bars, is clear and deep, but without excessive aggression. This allows the track to smoothly gain momentum without losing its lightness.
The main riff of the synthesizer is neatly drawn and fits perfectly into the overall picture. It is not overloaded with effects, which allows the melody to “breathe”. However, you can notice some predictability in the arrangement here.
Atmosphere of the track is really iridescent, perfect for meeting the dawn on the dance floor. The melodic moves, although nice, don’t bring any special surprises. Perhaps the use of more complex harmonies would have added extra depth to the track.
“Tulum” is a melodic house track that conveys the serene vibe of a sunny day at a Mexican resort, where the DJ’s rhythms and warm beams evoke a deep sense of zen. Egregious Beats has managed to retain the elements for which this style has become popular, while adding its own freshness to the sound. However, to take it to the next level, the producer should take a risk and add more uniqueness and unpredictability to his work.
